Geno Smith Fantasy Prediction 2026:
Geno Smith enters the 2026 fantasy football season leading the New York Jets, but his profile leaves much to be desired for managers. He turns 36 in October, and at this stage of his career, there is no versatility in his game and not nearly enough upside with his arm to warrant a roster spot.
Should You Draft Geno Smith in Fantasy Football?
If you're asking me that question, I think you've got better ways to spend your time.

Personally, I don't know what we've seen from Smith in the recent past to make him worthwhile on a limited offense. I get that the Jets have some talent, or the idea of some talent. Garrett Wilson's great. Breece Hall is also great. But beyond that, you have high-pedigree options in Omar Cooper and Kenyon Sadiq to build up a guy in Smith who's thrown 60 touchdown passes over the last three seasons combined, and that's with a viable role: 47 starts over that stretch.
He's had talented playmakers before. He's past his prime. He's on an offense that just wants to bleed clock and not do anything exciting. What motivation do they have to push him? Cade Klubnik is waiting in the wings. I don't think he's any kind of answer to the future, but at least at this point he hasn't failed at the NFL level. That's a step up from what we've seen from Smith over the last couple of years.
That's of interest for a Jets team that seems to be building like what the Falcons did. It didn't work for the Falcons because they didn't hit on the quarterback. But you draft the position players, you draft the skill guys with all this upside, and then you try to figure out quarterback on the fly. If he hits, he hits on his rookie contract. Conceptually, I like the idea. Whether or not Klubnik is that, I have no idea.

But Smith isn't it for 2026. I think he could elevate Hall and Wilson at some level, because he'd be better than what this team got a season ago, but that doesn't mean fantasy relevant at all. I don't think he's even a starter on a regular basis in superflex formats.
As for Smith, I don't think you need to hear me say it, but if you do: no. Don't draft Smith in 2026.

If you're reading this, I'm hoping you play in a deep Superflex league, are thirsty for any content even remotely related to fantasy, or just enjoy this site.

Those are all acceptable reasons. Relying on Smith in the year 2026 in a meaningful way is not.
He had just a pair of QB1 finishes last season (that might be two more than you remember) and, over the past three seasons, has more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (11) on passes thrown 20+ yards down the field.
This isn't a player we can bank on, and he's attached to the vortex of futility that is the New York Jets. One of his big games last season came in mop-up duty in a blowout loss in Washington, and if you ever want to try to sell yourself on him in a crazy DFS build, that's your path.
The Titans aren't going to blow anyone out, so this spot doesn't even qualify as that.

With a litany of NFC North teams up after this one, maybe we can land the plane on an outlier Smith performance where he gets his two superstar teammates the ball in space against a defense that is just trying to get the game to the finish line.
For Week 1, however, I can't imagine a situation in which you're looking this way. He did battle some ankle soreness in August, and while I don't need "health reasons" to fade this profile, it's additional data to encourage you to look somewhere else as you try to get creative.
