The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the 2026 season looking to not only continue to contend for national titles, but to get over the hump and actually win their first since 2022.
When it gets late into the season, the margin between winning and losing is so razor thin that it can often come down to just one or two plays. Too many times both positively and negatively for the Bulldogs, this comes down to a special teams miscue or a huge made or missed kick.
Fortunately for Georgia, they have had the benefit of being on the right side of this most of the time, and they hope that continues. Here are the main special teams names to know headed into the season.
Peyton Woodring, Kicker
The Bulldogs are blessed to have Woodring back in the fold and have the knowledge that as long as he's healthy, every field goal they line up for is going to have a great chance to go through the uprights.
After finishing 2025 17-for-19 on field goals, he is going to be hungry to make his fourth and potentially last season in Athens his best one yet. Woodring is among the best kickers in all of college football, and Georgia is lucky to have him.
Drew Miller, Punter
One of the most under-discussed narratives for this team headed into the season may be punter, as they are replacing the best in the nation in Brett Thorson after his career came to an end. Thorson was the Ray Guy Award winner in 2025, and there are some big shoes for Miller to fill.
He did punt six times for an average of 48.0 yards against Marshall in 2025, but if he struggles early, true freshman Wade Register will likely get the chance to step in.
Will Snellings, Long Snapper
Gunner Stockton is back as the holder, but the Bulldogs will be breaking in a new long snapper this season to replace Beau Gardner, and it sounds like Snellings is the next man up. He has made several appearances throughout his career snapping in games, but now he will have the full time gig.
Sacovie White-Helton and Talyn Taylor, Primary Returners
Where Kirby Smart actually goes here may be anyone's guess, but the pair of electric wide receivers seem to make the most sense as for who could be returning kicks. If they are not getting it done, there's dozens of others that could get a chance, but for the start of the season, it's most likely Taylor and White-Helton will get the first shot.
