Georgia Bulldogs running back Dwight Phillips has made a name for himself this season. Phillips has seen more looks than expected with running backs Nate Frazier, Chauncey Bowens and Dante Dowdell all missing multiple games this season.
Phillips is having a career year. The junior speedster has career-best numbers across the board. Phillips has 47 carries for 348 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also has 10 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Phillips has made the most of his recent opportunities. He has at least 90 total yards in four straight games and has ripped off several big runs. He is a threat in the passing game and uses his speed to create explosive plays. Phillips averages 7.4 yards per carry, which is among the most in the country.
In fact, Phillips has posted the highest speed of any player at 22.3 miles per hour (per Reel Analytics), which is tied with Ole Miss receiver Deuce Alexander entering Week 8.
"Nate (Frazier) and Dwight (Phillips Jr.) are both really good in the pass game and do a good job and those were the guys we were going with," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said during Georgia's bye week.
Phillips will try to continue making big plays in Georgia's next game on Saturday, Oct. 31 against Florida.
