- Georgia football's Peyton Woodring not worried about forecast at Alabama

Football kickers should be considered part-time meteorologists.
The forecast for Georgia football's game at Alabama at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 , is currently predicting a high of 80-degrees, low of 66-degrees with eight mile an hour winds to the east, periods of rain lasting eight hours and a thunderstorm.
Bulldog senior Peyton Woodring has seen a lot of conditions in his four years in Athens, so this forecast is of little concern.
"We practice in the wet conditions all the time," he said. "We do wet ball trails every week to prepare for those moments. And then wind is something you see in pregame. You get to feel both sides of the stadium, which way the wind's going, get a good read on it and how far you have to play a ball outside of uprights or where."

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is comfortable with Woodring when it comes to kicking in adverse conditions. He called the Louisiana native a model of consistency with the perfect kicker mindset.
"He doesn't get real upset over positives or negatives, whether it's a miss or a kickoff," Smart said. "He kind of reassesses things, puts himself in a good place and just keeps working at it. I respect his work ethic. His process to preparation each week and the consistency he's been for us; we've been very fortunate."
Woodring developed his kicker mentality freshman year. He struggled a bit early on and had to reassess how to handle certain situations as his career progressed, but as he's gone on, he's gotten better at going through the motions.
"I think now I have a good system," Woodring said. "Every kick is independent of the other, and that's a big thing to know. If you miss one, you can always come back and make another."
Smart agreed that they'll assess the kicking situation come gameday, but he doesn't seem too worried at the moment because this time last week, the forecast predicted "a monsoon" would be over Athens during the Vanderbilt game and that wasn't true.
Woodring has made 33 of 33 point after attempts, kicked off 40 times for 2,572 yards and made 4 of 4 field goal attempts for 126 yards in the first five games of the season.
