The Georgia Bulldogs are just about out of time when it comes to preparing for the season as game day will be here before fans in Athens know it.
Coming out of spring practice, a summer program and grueling fall camp, most of the roles and spots on this team have been locked down and secured, but questions continue to be asked about the wide receiver room and who is going to be making plays for Gunner Stockton.
Without a lot of proven experience in that room this year, it's still wide open for someone to step up and secure a huge role. There's a number of names who have been tossed around there, but one who continues to receive buzz during fall camp is former five-star sophomore Talyn Taylor who is trying to seize a spot after not seeing the field much as a true freshman.
Intel from Rusty Mansell of UGA Sports On3 states Taylor has had a very strong week of practice and he seems to be heating up at the perfect time.
"He's had what I would call a good last week of practices, and on Tuesday I was told he was one of the standouts of the day," Mansell reported on Taylor.
He went on to say Taylor was catching contested passes against the first-team defense, a unit which is going to be one of the best in college football when it comes to the secondary.
Because of his freshman season that was so quiet, Taylor has gotten a little bit forgotten by fans at least in terms of his former five-star status. He would hardly be the first future star to take some time to translate to college football though, and there is a ton of talent there which has not yet been fully realized.
If he can show some more consistency, which it sounds like he is starting to do during this camp, Taylor could wind up being one of the most important players in the wide receiver room this season. Strong practices are a solid start to making that happen, and by the sounds of it, he is starting to string those together.
An emergence from Taylor would go a long way towards answering perhaps the biggest question on the team headed into the season as well as dramatically raising the ceiling of the offense. Time will tell if he can get it done.
