Georgia running back without NFL team after going undrafted

Following the conclusion of the 2026 NFL draft , former Georgia Bulldogs running back Josh McCray remains unsigned. McCray is hoping to be signed as an undrafted free agent or get a minicamp invitation.

Five Georgia players signed as undrafted free agents following the draft, but McCray is not among that group. Georgia safety Jacorey Thomas received a minicamp invitation with the Carolina Panthers .

McCray had 53 carries for 135 yards and three touchdowns during the 2025 season with Georgia. He notably scored a game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Tennessee Volunteers .

McCray transferred to Georgia after spending the first four seasons of his college football career with the Illinois Fighting Illini . McCray was quite productive with Illinois in 2024, when he recorded 117 carries for 609 rushing yards and scored 10 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound back is a powerful runner, but McCray was not productive as a receiver (three receptions for five yards in 2025) and has questions about his speed. McCray's longest rush for Georgia was 17 yards.

If McCray is unable to find an NFL home, he could seek to join the United Football League or Canadian Football League.
