Getting to know new Saints DT Christen Miller

During the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected defensive tackle Christen Miller from Georgia to strengthen the trenches and reinforce its run defense.

Here’s what you should know about his collegiate career as he competes for a starting position this offseason.

Miller began his collegiate career at Georgia as a redshirt freshman, appearing in four games before his sophomore year.

He stepped forward during the 2023 season, recording 14 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack across 13 games.

In his junior year, he earned a starting role on the Bulldogs’ defensive line and set a career high with 27 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and another sack.

After the 2024 season, he decided to return for his senior year at Georgia and had another successful season with 23 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack.

He finished his tenure with 64 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks while anchoring Georgia’s defensive front.

Miller’s explosiveness makes him difficult to block and his ability to pursue ball carriers adds versatility along the defensive line, making him a good addition to the Saints’ four-man, specifically to stop the run.

Throughout his collegiate career, Miller has suffered injuries but avoided any long-term setbacks. The worst he had to overcome was a dislocated shoulder he suffered in a game against UMass in 2024.

That injury caused him to miss some time and later required him to have surgery on a torn labrum before last season, which only kept him on the bench throughout spring practice.

Despite those small setbacks, Miller remained durable, starting for the Bulldogs and was named a First-team All-SEC player, which is evidence that he will continue to grow to become a valuable player that New Orleans can use.
