- Giants have a depth question their bye week cannot erase

Tremaine Edmunds' injury leaves the Giants with a linebacker decision that won't be fixed by a bye week.
The Giants placed Edmunds on injured reserve before their Houston game, while activating cornerback Paulson Adebo. The team announced the moves ; subsequent reporting described Edmunds' shoulder injury as season-ending.
Micah McFadden stepped into the lineup alongside rookie Arvell Reese. Reese has already shown he can find the ball, but a linebacker room also needs someone to sort out alignments and communicate when an offense changes the picture before the snap.
The 27-21 overtime win over Houston gives the staff a game to evaluate that pairing. It does not prove the depth is sufficient for the rest of the schedule, especially with Philadelphia and Washington coming after the bye.
I'd start by keeping the assignments clear for McFadden and Reese, then ask whether Jack Kelly and Zaire Barnes can handle meaningful snaps if another injury arrives. There is no reason to force a trade before the coaches finish that assessment.

New York could add a veteran linebacker for experience and insurance. The drawback is that the team also has a need along the defensive front and fewer mid-round picks to spend than most buyers.
Edmunds' absence is real regardless of how the Giants choose to respond. They need the current pairing to communicate well and a credible third option behind it; the Houston result alone cannot answer both questions.
