The New York Giants have already lost defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris for the year due to a torn Achilles. Now, the Giants are concerned their worst injury fears have come true once again. .
Wide receiver Gunner Olszewski was carted off of the field on Friday. Now, New York fears that he has suffered a torn Achilles , via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Olszewski suffered his injury in a non-contact environment while running a route, via Dan Duggan of the Athletic. He was immediately frustrated and grabbing at his leg when the cart came out. Furthermore, his teammates were visibly upset after seeing Olszewski's injury.
The Giants will have him undergo more tests to confirm their worst fears. But between the non-contact nature and the cart being utilized, Olszewski has suffered a serious injury.
After being his 2023 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers , the wide receiver signed to the New York Giants ' practice squad before being elevated. He has been with the franchise ever since, mainly making a name for himself on special teams.
He did make 10 grabs for 145 yards – both career-highs – and a touchdown in 2025. But if he weren't injured, the Giants realistically expected the majority of his contributions to remain on special teams. However, being named an All-Pro for his special teams work in 2020, it's a role that Olszewski has thrived in.
Head coach John Harbaugh will have plenty of things to figure out as he steps into his new role with the Giants. But first, he just needs his roster to stay healthy. Unfortunately for Olszewski, that wasn't the case on Friday.
