The New York Giants own the NFC East right now, and the gap is getting wider. Week 9 finds the team firmly leading the division, according to Ed Valentine of Big Blue View. The record stands at 4-2-1, a mark that puts them ahead of every other team in their own group. This lead did not come from a perfect week, but from the failures of their rivals while the Giants sat out.
While New York rested, Dallas blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead against the Arizona Cardinals, according to Big Blue View . The Cowboys ended up losing 33-30 in overtime, missing a huge chance to close the gap. Washington also got the better of the other division foe, beating the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10. The Commanders improved to 2-5-1, but the real story is the Eagles falling to 2-6. While the Giants rested during their bye week, Big Blue View observed that Sunday's division outcomes favored them.

A Gap That Keeps Growing
The standings show a clear hierarchy that favors the home team in the NFC. The Giants sit at 4-2-1 with a 1-0-1 record in the NFC East. Dallas drops to 3-5, while Washington sits at 2-5-1. The Eagles have fallen to 2-6 with a 1-2 NFC record. These numbers tell a simple story: the Giants are the only team in the division with a winning record. The rest of the group is trying to catch up from behind.
Per Big Blue View, the weekend was good to the Giants because their competition dropped points. The 3-5 Cowboys missed an opportunity to gain ground on the Giants on Sunday. That loss in Arizona leaves Dallas three games back in the loss column. The Commanders and Eagles are even further behind, making the path to the playoffs look much clearer for New York.
Next Stop in Philadelphia
The Giants will test this lead on the road next. The schedule has the team heading to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, Nov. 8, for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. They face an Eagles squad that has lost four of its last five games and sits at the bottom of the division. A win in Philadelphia would push the Giants to 5-2-1 and make the gap nearly impossible to bridge for the other three teams.

After that trip to Philly, the team returns home for a Thursday night game against the Commanders. The schedule is tough, but the position is strong. If the Giants can split these two games, they will be in the driver's seat for the rest of the season.
Big Blue View listed the NFC playoff standings with the Giants holding the third seed. The San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings lead the conference at 6-1, but the Giants are the top team in their division. The Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Eagles all trail the Giants in the loss column. The NFC East race is far from over, but the Giants have built a cushion that no other team in the division can match right now.
