Trade rumors have been swirling around New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux for over a year now, but up until this point, the Giants have held on to him.
While New York insists that it wants to utilize Thibodeaux, the fact that the former first-round pick is still in tow is also partially because the Giants haven't been able to find enticing value for him .
The New Orleans Saints reportedly offered a fourth-rounder for Thibodeaux during the NFL Draft, which New York understandably declined .
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox seems to believe that Thibodeaux's value could increase now that the regular season is in view.
In a piece where Knox outlined some potential trades that could take place before the 2026 campaign begins, he proposed a deal in which the Giants would send Thibodeaux to the New England Patriots in exchange for a second-round pick.
"Earlier in the offseason, the New York Giants were listening to offers for 2022 first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal. However, they couldn't find a buyer at their desired price," Knox wrote . "... The Patriots, who are looking to build rather than rebuild, might be more eager to meet New York's demands, even if a trade for Thibodeaux would require a new contract."
An early Day 2 pick might be too tempting of a price for the Giants to pass up, especially considering New York is a bit short on 2027 draft capital.
New England could definitely use another pass rusher, so Thibodeaux could certainly be of interest to the defending AFC champs.
The 25-year-old missed the final seven games of 2025 due to a shoulder injury. When he was on the field, he logged 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He posted 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 12 contests the season prior.
Thibodeaux flashed tremendous potential in 2024, racking up 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles for Big Blue. He appeared to be an ascending talent at the time, but injuries have derailed him the past couple of seasons.
If the Patriots — or any team — do ultimately approach the Giants and offer a second-rounder in exchange for Thibodeaux's services, the brain trust of John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen might have trouble saying no.
