The New York Giants ’ future looks bright despite a rough 4-13 season.

The franchise brought in a Super Bowl-winning coach in John Harbaugh, has a high-upside quarterback in Jaxson Dart , and possesses a contact-inviting running back in Cam Skattebo . Per NJ.com’s Darryl Slater , things could get even better for the Giants by signing a former Philadelphia Eagles star RB.

“Harbaugh was interested in Kenneth Walker and Jeremiyah Love this offseason, but he ultimately landed neither,” Slater wrote Monday. “So it’s still Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy atop the Giants’ backfield pecking order.”

“(Najee)Harris would be an intriguing addition. He briefly played for Harbaugh’s brother Jim with the Chargers last season before tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 3. But it’s not like he’s that old. He turned 28 in March. Similarly, (Miles) Sanders and (Antonio) Gibson are both coming off knee injuries, but still seemingly have some juice left.”

Not too long ago, Sanders was a standout RB with the Eagles, finishing the 2022-23 season with 1,269 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. As a result, the former second-round pick earned his lone Pro Bowl nod in the big leagues.

Surprisingly, though, Philadelphia let Sanders walk in free agency, and the 29-year-old subsequently signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers . After two super seasons with Carolina, the Panthers released Sanders, allowing him to sign a one-year deal with the Cowboys .

Injuries limited Sanders to four games and ultimately affected his production in Dallas . The Penn State product recorded 117 rushing yards and one touchdown before becoming a free agent.

It’s clear that in the right offensive scheme, Sanders can be highly effective as an elusive RB with impressive acceleration and underrated receiving chops (he’s caught 254 passes for 1,274 yards and four touchdowns in his career).

Perhaps joining his third NFC East team could help him return to his original form.
