The Giants made Greg Newsome II a one-year addition in March. Less than eight months later, they have agreed to keep the cornerback on a much longer deal.
Newsome and New York reached an agreement on a three-year, $46 million extension that includes $32 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported , citing agent Erik Burkhardt of Roc Nation Sports. The reported extension averages about $15.3 million per year; the full year-by-year structure has not been disclosed.
For a Giants team trying to build continuity in the secondary, that is a significant investment in a player who arrived on a one-year contract. The reported guarantees matter more than the headline average when evaluating the commitment.

Newsome has started six games this season, recording 25 tackles, six passes defended and an interception. His pick came against Arizona, a game in which he also recorded seven tackles and two passes defended.
The 26-year-old was Cleveland's 26th overall selection in the 2021 draft and moved to Jacksonville in a 2025 trade before joining New York. He signed a one-year, $8 million deal with the Giants in March, according to Over The Cap .
Newsome described press-man coverage as a strength when he arrived. Keeping a corner comfortable challenging receivers at the line gives defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson another piece to plan around, rather than forcing the Giants to replace another starter next offseason.
Newsome missed the Week 7 win over Houston after entering concussion protocol during the New Orleans game. He participated in Monday's practice, Dan Duggan reported , but practicing does not establish that he has been cleared or will play Sunday against Philadelphia.
I like the Giants committing to a corner they know fits their defense, but six games are still a limited sample on which to judge a multiyear contract. The other path was to let the season play out and test the market later, which also risked a higher price or losing him.
The important details left to see are how the guarantees and cap charges are distributed. For now, the agreement gives New York an answer at a valuable position while Newsome works toward returning to the field.
