The New York Giants have made a move just before free agency to keep one of their own around.

Chris Manhertz is staying put with the Giants.
The 10-year NFL veteran is signing a one-year deal with New York, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .
While free agency isn't open yet, players can re-sign with the teams they finished last season with, and that's what Manhertz is doing.
Manhertz, a tight end, is one of those glue guys down an offensive depth chart who just helps things come together.

The 33-year old is known for his blocking. He played all 17 games for the Giants in 2025 and had just one catch for seven yards. Being a receiver wasn't his role.

He has played 154 games in the NFL in a career that spans from the Saints to the Panthers to the Jaguars , Broncos and now Giants.
In that career, Manhertz has 30 catches for 308 yards and three touchdowns.
He had back-to-back six-catch seasons for the Jags in 2021 and 2022 that mark his career best.
Manhertz has been a cool story since the start of his NFL career. He was a college basketball player at Canisius, but someone thought he'd make a good tight end. They were right.
Now, he'll be looking to appear in NFL games for the 11th consecutive season, and it'll be back with the Giants for a third year.
