In a thrilling LaLiga EA Sports 25/26 match at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi, Girona pulled off a stunning upset by defeating Barcelona 2-1. Despite Barcelona's dominance in possession and attempts, it was Girona who made the most of their opportunities to clinch a vital win in the 24th fixture of the championship.

The game swung into life in the second half when Barcelona took the lead in the 59th minute through Pau Cubarsí , who executed a perfect shot into the top right corner after receiving a cross from Jules Koundé. However, the joy was short-lived as Girona responded immediately. Just two minutes later, Thomas Lemar found the net with a close-range effort, leveling the score at 1-1 with an assist from Vladyslav Vanat .

As the match seemed to be heading towards a draw, Girona's Fran Beltrán turned the game on its head in the 85th minute with a decisive goal. Receiving a pass from Joel Roca , Beltrán's right-footed shot found the left corner of the net, putting Girona ahead. This goal came shortly after Barcelona's Lamine Yamal missed a crucial penalty in the first half, adding to Barcelona's frustrations.

Despite having 70% possession and creating numerous chances, Barcelona could not find the equalizer, and Girona held on for a memorable victory. The match ended on a sour note for Girona as Joel Roca received a red card in stoppage time, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the Girona fans who celebrated a significant triumph over their Catalan rivals.
