Girona's comeback without a final reward
Girona earned a point at Mendizorrotza after drawing 2-2 against Deportivo Alavés in an intense match that was decided in the final moments. Míchel's team managed to respond to the initial blow from the Basques but saw the victory slip away in the 89th minute.
The match started off difficult for the Girona side. In the 5thminute, Boyéput Alavés ahead, taking advantage of a quick action inside the box that caught the visiting defense off guard. The early goal forced Girona to take control of the game and patiently look for their scoring opportunities.

The response came in the 31stminute. Vanat finished off a set-piece play after a corner to restore balance and reward the growing dominance of the red-and-whites. The goal gave Míchel's team confidence, and they ended the first half with better sensations and control of the ball.
In the second half, Girona made a decisive step forward. With more presence in the opponent's half and a more vertical passing game, the Catalans found their reward in the 73rdminute. Ounahi , returning to action after the Africa Cup of Nations and his injury, showcased his quality and assisted Tsygankov with a precise pass that the winger coolly converted into a 1-2 lead.
Just as Girona was on the verge of securing three points, a cold shower arrived. In the 89thminute, Boyéscored his second goal, capitalizing on a shot inside the box to make it 2-2. It was an excessive punishment for a Girona side that had managed to come back and created the clearest chances to win the match.
Despite the final disappointment, the point leaves Girona in eleventh place in the standings, with the good news of Ounahi's return, who was instrumental in the second goal. Next Sunday, March 1st, at 9:00 PM, Girona will host Celta de Vigo at Montilivi.
