Golden Knights' John Tortorella rips 'stupidest question' on possible Carter Hart benching appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
When John Tortorella is winning, he is regarded as one of the most unique and colorful personalities in the sport. Heck, one might even call him a breath of fresh air. Though, when he is on the losing end, things could get ugly in a hurry. Such situations remind people that there is a downside to having a soundbite machine as head coach. The 2004 Stanley Cup champion and two-time Jack Adams Award winner displayed his infamous impatience for the media following the Vegas Golden Knights' 4-2 Game 5 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes .
Carter Hart continued to struggle in net, but apparently, Tortorella did not even consider changing goalies during Thursday's Stanley Cup Final clash. He resorted to insults when asked by Daily Faceoff's Jonny Lazarus about potentially going to Adin Hill in the third period.
"Christ, that could be the stupidest question I've heard," the temperamental 67-year-old fired back, via @Young_Gritty. Although Hart will appreciate staunch loyalty from his coach, it takes a lot of nerve to completely invalidate a sensible question amid a 3-2 series deficit.
Hill has undoubtedly had his struggles this season, posting a .870 save percentage in 27 games, but he played a critical role in the Golden Knights winning their first Stanley Cup championship in 2023. Furthermore, it is not like Hart has been stellar. Actually, he is having quite the hard time against the Hurricanes.
The former second-round draft pick has allowed four goals in each of the last five games and will now be under overwhelming pressure to extend the campaign in Vegas' T-Mobile Arena. Judging by John Tortorella's stunningly irascible response, one would assume that Carter Hart will indeed get the opportunity to attain redemption this Sunday night.
