Greece and the Netherlands shared spoils after an entertaining game at Toumba Stadium on Thursday. The hosts were on their way to a third win from as many Nations League games before Xavi's men scored twice in the last half an hour.
Former Fortuna Düsseldorf winger Christos Tzolis thought he put Greece in front, but he suffered a double blow in the space of five minutes with his goal chalked off by VAR for an offside before an injury forced his early substitution.
Fotis Ioannidis did put the in-form side ahead before assisting Tzolis' replacement Georgios Masouras in first-half injury-time. The visitors started their comeback at the hour mark, with the captain Virgil van Dijk scoring from a corner-kick taken by Borussia Dortmund 's Joey Veerman .
There was also a Dortmund new signing at the other end as Konstantinos Karetsas played 83 minutes for Ivan Jovanović's side. Xavi kept his unbeaten record with yet another late goal for the Netherlands, with Tijani Reijnders scoring the 89th-minute equalizer.
Netherlands had twin brothers Jurriën and Quinten Timber in the starting lineup, while ex-Bayern players Ryan Gravenberch and Joshua Zirkzee contributed to the comeback off the bench.
Greece will host Germany at the same venue on October 4th, while the Netherlands play Serbia in Eindhoven. Greece sit top of the group with 7 points ahead of neighbours Netherlands and Germany, while Serbia are yet to pick up a point.
