The Green Bay Packers have an interior offensive line dilemma. Aaron Banks missed Week 1 due to knee tendinitis after being limited in practice. The plan is to ramp up slowly, and the coaching staff will monitor how his knee responds to each practice session and will likely make him a game-time decision for Week 2. Donovan Jennings got the starting nod at left guard last week but struggled in his first career start, and the Packers will hold an open competition this week between Jennings and Jager Burton if Banks does not play Sunday.
In addition, right guard is also in a problematic situation. Jacob Monk made his first start at the position and struggled. After losing the starting job early in training camp and being demoted to swing tackle, Anthony Belton could potentially be in the mix at right guard.
Because of this, fans have urged Green Bay to sign a veteran/starting-caliber player to boost their interior offensive line depth. Many people have linked 36-year-old Pro Bowler and Wisconsin native/alum Kevin Zeitler , but his conditioning and NFL future remain in question. According to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated on Monday night, Zeitler is apparently ready to roll for the right opportunity.

According to Bill Huber, the Packers have signed Cordell Volson to the practice squad following a Wednesday workout. Volson spent his first four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals , starting 48 regular-season and three playoff games exclusively at left guard, and spent some time at right guard this offseason with the Tennessee Titans . The former fourth-round pick can be elevated to the game-day roster three times without penalty; otherwise, a fourth elevation would require a promotion to the 53-man roster.
Here's a quick review of his past year

Cincinnati Bengals guard Cordell Volson (67) runs drills at Cincinnati Bengals training camp on the Kettering Health Practice Fields in Cincinnati on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Cordell Volson competed against third-round pick Dylan Fairchild for the starting left guard job last offseason. Unfortunately, Volson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery in late August. The Bengals waived him with an injury designation during roster cuts, but he went unclaimed and reverted to injured reserve.
The Tennessee Titans signed Volson to a one-year, $3.125 million contract with $2 million guaranteed in March. He moved to right guard and competed against fifth-round pick Fernando Carmona for the starting job. Unfortunately, Volson lost the job to Carmona and was waived during roster cuts.
