- Green Bay Packers coaches praise underrated offensive weapon who they say is “messed up in the head”
The Green Bay Packers are 3-2 on the season following their convincing 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week Five. Unfortunately, as has happened all too often in 2026, Green Bay saw one of their starters suffer a season-ending injury. In garbage time, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave tore his Achilles and will be out for the rest of the year.
Indeed, the Packers have seen more starters suffer season-ending injuries than any other NFL team has since last November. Because of all these recent injuries, many have forgotten that tight end Luke Musgrave has not played after suffering is on the PUP list due to a neck injury. His inability to be ready for the regular season prompted Green Bay to trade for another tight end, Mark Redman , before Week One.

Redman was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2028 seventh round pick. He went undrafted in 2025 and spent all of last season on the Rams' practice squad.
He was thrust into duty right away by the Packers. Redman has played in each of Green Bay's five games, and has appeared in 31% of the offensive snaps and 22% of special teams snaps.
While he is not a focal point in the passing game, he has impressed coaches with his pass and run blocking. Adam Stenavich told reporters that the young tight end is "messed up in the head," while Matt LaFleur said of him:
"Physicality is part of our game, and in order to be physical, you better have the right mindset. He's a fearless guy that will throw his body in there, and he's been doing a great job for us. I'm really glad we have him."
Redman has caught two passes for 29 yards in five games, but is making an impact with his physical play. This mentality is similar to that of starting tight end and fan-favorite Tucker Kraft, who famously once said that he is "comfortable with violence on the offensive line."
Green Bay has had to overcome its fair share of adversity already this year, but the intense approach of their tight ends has helped them overcome it up to this point.
