- Green Bay Packers lost quarterback to Baltimore Ravens after brutal Week 8 injuries
The Green Bay Packers found out the hard way just how important it is to have a competent backup quarterback two years ago. As fans will recall, starter Jordan Love suffered a sprained MCL in Week One of the 2024 NFL season, which caused him to miss the next two games. If it had not been for the stellar play of backup Malik Willis, the chances are high that the Packers would have started the season 0-3. Instead, Willis had them at 2-1 by the time Love returned.
With Willis now the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins , the Packers signed long-time veteran Tyrod Taylor to backup Love in 2026. He provides plenty of game experience and can still help Love work on intricacies to his game that only veterans sometimes can identify.
Meanwhile, the Packers have had to make a change at quarterback on their practice squad.

After the preseason ended, the Packers signed Kedon Slovis to their practice squad as the team's third quarterback. They were impressed with his performance against their own defense in the preseason, and since he was cut from the Arizona Cardinals' 53-man roster, Green Bay picked him up.
Now, however, Slovis is a member of the Baltimore Ravens, who signed him to their own 53-man roster following some brutal injuries to their quarterback room in Week Eight:
On the first offensive play of the game for the Ravens this weekend, two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson suffered a thumb injury that will require surgery. Additionally, backup Tyler Huntley suffered a toe injury that is going to keep him out for several weeks.
And as if that were not enough, Baltimore's third quarterback, Joe Fagnano, suffered an ankle injury and will not be able to play Thursday night when the Ravens take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
All this to say that there is a good chance Slovis will start for Baltimore on Thursday night.
To replace him on the practice squad, Green Bay signed Cam Miller, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders.
