Harry Winks is a likely Leicester City leaver this summer. Indeed, LCFC's Blue Army fan base will collectively rejoice, on the whole.
Of course, there are the 'King Power loyalists', or 'Clappers', who shall wish Winks the best and won't recall or rake up why so many Foxes fans justifiably turned on the former Tottenham Hotspur man. But why the ill-feeling after a great tenure under Enzo Maresca a couple of years ago? Where did it all go wrong for the midfielder?

Initially arriving as a marquee signing, Winks was the heartbeat of the promotion-winning side, retaining the ball with an efficiency that felt vital to that specific tactical setup. However, as the LE2 club transitioned into more challenging waters, the player's influence waned significantly.
The 30-year-old's play and reputation took a nosedive in the most challenging campaign of his life during the 2025/26 season, as consistency became a memory and the team struggled to find its rhythm. The nadir of his relationship with the terraces occurred when he cowardly swore at Leicester supporters.
Winks was half inside the safety of a bus with security behind him, behaving like some manic UK Grime artist as he traded barbs with the very people who once cheered his name. That inflammatory display burned the final bridges between the player and the stands following uneven displays and the loss of his place.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur footballer, naturally, made his own position at the club untenable. With the fan base now entirely alienated, the news from the weekend suggests a clean break is finally on the horizon.

Leicester City's Harry Winks' transfer on the cards
Serie A outfit Cagliari may take a risk on a previously reliable athlete who has proven Italian experience. During his earlier spell at Sampdoria, he earned the nickname "the washing machine" for his tidying up and recycling of possession under pressure.
Cagliari and the Englishman's entourage are holding talks to find an agreement over the wages, with the two clubs now also in discussions over terms of the deal.
Therefore, this switch makes sense for all parties involved and could bring in a few million for the cash-strapped East Midlands team. City have given their blessing for talks to initiate, finally clearing the path for a departure that both the organisation and the supporters have been anticipating.
For the sake of his career and the tranquility of King Power Stadium , a move to the Italian coast seems the perfect remedy for all. Winks can consequently look to rediscover the form that once made him an England international .
