The Cleveland Guardians knew that they had to improve the lineup leading up to the trade deadline. The front office made a series of moves to address that need, including acquiring Nathaniel Lowe from the Cincinnati Reds .
The veteran first baseman was in the middle of one of his best offensive seasons before the trade, and he's picked up right where he left off with his new organization.

In Lowe's eight games with the Guardians, he owns a .296 batting average (8-for-27) with a .903 OPS. Two of those hits have been go-ahead home runs, and Lowe's eight RBI over this stretch are the second-most on the team, only trailing Angel Martinez's 10.
Lowe is also the 15th player in franchise history and the sixth player in the Wild Card era to log eight or more hits, four or more extra-base hits, and eight or more RBI through their first eight games with the organization.
The other players on that list include Chase DeLauter (2026), Carlos Santana (2010), Karim Garcia (2002), Matt Lawton (2002), and Juan Gonzalez (2001).

After Lowe blasted a home run against the San Diego Padres on Friday night, he said there really hasn't been a secret to his earlier success after the trade.

Maybe it's because Lowe has been with a handful of teams during his career. Perhaps it's that Lowe has a career 1.021 OPS at Progressive Field. It could have something to do with the fact that the 31-year-old has been in playoff races earlier in his career.

Lowe joked that if he had an answer for why he's off to a hot start with his new team, "I wish I had it because, I'll tell you what, I'd be a lot better player, and a lot more productive, but you just gotta keep going."

Even though Lowe has appeared very relaxed in the batter's box, he said it's all about perception on the front. The veteran is sticking to his process and continues to look for pitches to hit.
"I don't want to give it a label," Lowe said . "I just want to keep going."
It's no secret that the Guardians have been struggling as a team over the last week and half, but the Lowe addition is already proving to be a success for Cleveland.
