In search of a versatile defender, PSG have put Guela Doue on their radar. The Strasbourg captain is not indifferent to Parisian interest, given that his ambition is to join a club qualified for the Champions League.
After getting their hands on a backup for Nuno Mendes by signing Lucas Digne , Paris Saint-Germain are looking, in this final stretch of the transfer window, for a potential replacement for Achraf Hakimi .
Ideally, the reigning two-time European champion would like to bring in a versatile right-footed defender who can fill in for Marquinhos while also playing out wide. Guela Doue's profile ticks all the boxes, which is why PSG is seriously exploring this lead in these last seven days of the transfer window.
The idea of joining his brother Desire in the capital does not leave the RC Strasbourg defender indifferent, according to Ekrem Konur. And with good reason, since the journalist asserts that "Paris Saint-Germain is pushing hard to sign Guela Doue this summer" and that the option does not displease the player. The Ivorian international, who has put a firm proposal from Everton on hold, wants to join a club qualified for the next Champions League.
This is obviously the case for PSG, which could therefore quickly obtain the green light from the 23-year-old defender. The question now is what price Strasbourg will set for Guela Doue, valued by Transfermarkt at 20 million euros.
A very affordable price for the club of the capital, which could, in addition, record big sales in the coming days, such as those of Bradley Barcola or even Ibrahim Mbaye .
It remains to be seen whether all the parties concerned will manage to reach an agreement to finalise the matter, and whether Guela Doue, despite the sporting and financial appeal that a transfer to PSG represents, will not change his mind at the last minute because of the status that will be reserved for him in the French capital.
Because make no mistake, it is indeed a backup and not a potential starter that Luis Enrique is looking for to give Achraf Hakimi a breather, a role at the opposite end of the one currently occupied by Guela Doue at Strasbourg, with the captain's armband.
In other news, Daniel Riolo doesn't rule out Ousmane Dembele leaving PSG before the deadline. The journalist insists the rest given to the player could be a punishment.
On the RMC station on Tuesday, the Frenchman said that a departure could not be ruled out for Dembele before Sept. 1. "There is a problem between Dembele and PSG. This week of rest looks like a heavy punishment," said Riolo, adding: "I am not even ruling out a departure. I would not fall out of my chair if it happened."
