The Washington Nationals received a concerning update on catcher Harry Ford following Friday's 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels , with the rookie undergoing testing after experiencing left hand and wrist pain.
Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports reported on X that Ford went for imaging after leaving the game. The 23-year-old was removed in the ninth inning after feeling discomfort during his final at-bat in the sixth.
The Nationals have not announced a specific diagnosis, leaving Ford's status uncertain as the club waits for the results of his tests.
Ford went 0-for-2 with a walk and scored a run before leaving Friday's game. His absence could create another problem for a Nationals catching group that has already been stretched thin.
Drew Millas , who had been serving as Washington's primary backup, remains sidelined with a left index finger fracture. That leaves veteran Riley Adams as the club's most experienced healthy option behind the plate if Ford is forced to miss time.
Ford has appeared in 30 games since joining Washington and is batting .188 with three home runs, 10 RBIs and a .310 on-base percentage. While his offense has been inconsistent, his athleticism and ability to handle a young pitching staff have made him an important part of the Nationals' plans.

The Nationals acquired Ford from the Seattle Mariners in December 2025 in exchange for pitcher José A. Ferrer. He initially spent time at Triple-A before getting his opportunity in the majors.
For now, Washington will wait for more information before determining how long Ford could be unavailable. With Millas already out, even a short absence would leave the Nationals with limited catching depth.
Friday's victory provided a positive result, but Ford's health could become the more important development coming out of the game.
