Brighton and Hove Albion forward Harry Howell has completed a season-long loan move to Leicester City while signing a new deal until 2029.
Local hero?
The local boy has become one of the stars of the future at the Seagulls and is also the cousin of Jack Hinshelwood . Nobody will ever forget the poetic moment when he made his Premier League debut alongside Hinshelwood!
A loan move to League One makes a lot of sense for Howell at this stage. Brighton have signed Zadok Yohanna for around £21.8 million and also have both Yankuba Minteh and Amario Cozier-Duberry competing with him for a place in the starting 11.
Howell has played some games for the Seagulls, including his last being against Crystal Palace at the Amex. The Seagulls lost 1-0 in a fairly dismal afternoon, and perhaps tainted the view of the talented youngster.
The academy graduate is regarded as one of the brightest sparks to come through the system and could be next up for possible Brighton prospects.
What type of player is Howell?
He will link up with Tommy Watson , who has also joined the Foxes. Howell is a fairly different player from Watson.
A dynamic, left-footed right-winger/attacking midfielder.
Howell is very good in tight spaces and someone who doesn't lack confidence in taking on his man to create chances.
While in need of bulking up, competing in a lower division for a team that should be challenging at the top end of the table, it could be the confidence he needs to progress.
Under former Brighton-born coach Russell Martin, it will be interesting to see how Leicester do with their Seagull influence.
