Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes should lose his place in their starting eleven for their next clash against Everton after a poor Carabao Cup showing.
The Magpies were dumped out of the cup by Everton on Thursday night as they travelled to Merseyside for a 3-1 defeat.
Their thousands of travelling fans were subjected to a humiliation that saw David Moyes' side go three up and cruise to the win before Dan Burn's late consolation.
Matthias Jaissle is set to come under increasing pressure in the coming days after three defeats in their last four outings.
He has persisted with Barnes this season, but his all-round performances are not worth such trust in him to start nearly every Newcastle match.
The 28-year-old was poor against Everton in midweek and should not be in the side as Moyes' side travel to Tyneside next Monday.
Harvey Barnes' contributions have been masking his shoddy Newcastle showings
Barnes may have six goal contributions in 11 appearances for Newcastle this season, but fans are growing tired of his ineffective showings constantly being masked by a moment of magic in the final third.
The former Leicester man has started all eight of their Premier League games so far, but is in the 55th percentile for chances created per 90 (1.66), 46th percentile for successful crosses per 90 (0.51) and 17th percentile for successful dribbles per 90 (0.38) compared to other top flight wingers and attacking midfielders.
He is also failing to fulfil his defensive duties, with 6.25 defensive contributions per 90 (41st percentile), 0.38 possession won in the final third per 90 (37th percentile) and 3.7 duels won per 90 (21st percentile).
Barnes was hooked off at half-time against Everton after making just five accurate passes, missing one big chance, failing to complete his one attempted dribble and winning just one of four attempted ground duels (25 per cent).
He should not be included in the Magpies' eleven for the first time in the league this season when they face the same opposition on home turf next week.

Toure has been criminally underused by Jaissle since joining Newcastle, despite impressing in the short time he has been given to impress.
The 20-year-old winger has scored twice for the club this season but has only started in one of his seven appearances across league and cup.
He completed the joint-most dribbles of any player (2) against Everton despite only being on the pitch for 23 minutes, while also creating one chance, making 10 accurate passes, completing two successful dribbles and winning two duels.
Toure did much more than Barnes against the Toffees, and has to be firmly in Jaissle's thinking for Monday's clash.
