Henri Veesaar gets brutally honest about UNC's loss to Duke
The North Carolina Tar Heels entered the season finale at Duke as an 18 1/2-point underdog, mainly because of the injury to Caleb Wilson, which will keep him out for the rest of the year.
Even without Wilsom, the Tar Heels trailed by only five at halftime. And a few minutes into the second half, they had the ball while down 41-40. After that? It was all Duke.
The Blue Devils went on a 24-2 run to grab control and eventually win 76-61 . Duke dominated the second half and controlled the game. For the Tar Heels, the effort just wasn't there, and following the game, one starter made sure to mention that while getting brutally honest.
“Once they went and kind of punched us, we didn't fight back," Henri Veesaar said. "We just folded.”
That included in the paint where North Carolina was dominated in rebounding. The Blue Devils outrebounded the Tar Heels 42-29, and UNC allowed 18 offensive rebounds. UNC had no answer for Maliq Brown or Cameron Boozer.
In fact, the Tar Heels had zero answers for the Blue Devils in the entire second half. As Veesaar said, they folded.
