The Jacksonville Jaguars placed cornerback Jourdan Lewis on injured reserve after the veteran injured his foot during the team's win over the Denver Broncos .
Jacksonville signed former Carolina Panthers corner Keith Taylor as a corresponding move.
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said Friday he didn't want to put a timeline on Lewis' recovery, but that he wouldn't expect much more from the veteran, on the field, for the remainder of this season.
"Always hard when you lose a leader, elite communicator, guy that brings energy and focus and playmaking to our defense. So, that's always hard, but he's handled it like a pro. He's been extremely confident with the guys around him, continuing to try to pour into them as much as possible," Coen said Friday when asked about Lewis going down with an injury.

Lewis signed a three-year, $30 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed in this year's offseason. At the time, it was the largest contract ever given to a nickel corner.
Lewis played and started primarily in the slot for Jacksonville, suiting up for 12 games. He accounted for 39 total tackles (21 solos), 10 pass breakups and two interceptions. Lewis' 10 PBUs are tied for the most on the team with linebacker Foye Oluokun and corner Montaric Brown .
While Lewis is out from an on-field perspective, he will still help the team out from afar as they prepare for their first playoff run since the 2022-23 season.
"Already has, to be honest. With just his positive energy being in the training room, no long face and woe is me, just not the type of guy that he is. He'll definitely help us," said Coen.
"There's no question, throughout the stretch, and as we go, so the guys all trust and they all believe in him. He'll have great guidance for all those guys that are playing in the backend and be able to continue to contribute that way."
Jourdan Lewis' injury opens door for more Jarrian Jones reps
The Jaguars are prepared for life without Lewis, and they have been for most of the season.
With Lewis dealing with various ailments this season, Jones has stepped into the starting lineup a few times. The former third-round pick out of Florida State has played in 15 games this season (three starts).
Though he took a backseat to Lewis this year, Jones has played 45% of the team's defensive snaps in 2025 after playing 58% as the team's primary slot corner in his rookie season last year.
Lewis has totaled 45 tackles (33 solos), five tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, six pass breakups and two interceptions this year.
The second-year corner is expected to replace Lewis in the starting lineup moving forward.
Coen was complimentary on Friday when asked about Jones' opportunity.
"Every opportunity he's continued to get better, and has made some huge plays for us this year. His play energy is always something that I appreciate, and he's tackled at a high level, especially in space," said Coen.
"So, continuing to get him moving in the right direction, and we're going to need him down the stretch."
Who is new Jaguars cornerback Keith Taylor?
Taylor, 27, was originally drafted by the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2021 draft out of Washington.
In his career, Taylor has played in 47 games (five starts) between the Carolina Panthers (2021-22), the Kansas City Chiefs (2023-24), and the Atlanta Falcons (2027).
Taylor has accounted for 75 total tackles (60 solos), six pass breakups, one forced fumble and one tackle for loss on defense. On special teams, Taylor has totaled three tackles (two solos) and two forced fumbles.
He appeared in two games for the Falcons this season, totalling six tackles (four solos).
His duties in Jacksonville will likely be relegated to special teams, with the team confident in Christian Braswell to play if needed over the remainder of the season.
