With NBA training camp less than four weeks away from opening, there is a lot of news coming out of the Association today.
As expected, the Charlotte Hornets continue to rotate players on Exhibit 10 deals at a high rate. A few days ago, the Hornets filled their 21-man training camp roster by adding Josiah Allick , though they reportedly had Exhibit-10 deals with three others. Thus, they were likely signing players not to attend training camp, but for their G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. Sure enough, Allick was released soon after signing the pact and will earn a $91,000 bonus if he spends 60 days with the Swarm.
NBA teams are allowed to have 21 players on their training camp roster, and the Hornets have 17 players on standard deals and all three of their two-way slots filled. Therefore, to fill the Swarm roster with players they like, they have to release players before adding anyone else.
Charlotte did that today. Right before announcing that the Hornets were signing Kobe Stewart to an Exhibit 10 pact, they waived Jarkel Joiner , who they signed to an Exhibit 10 contract.
Stewart is a 6-7 wing who played for G-League teams Austin Spurs, Memphis Hustle, and Wisconsin Herd this past season. The 24-year-old spent this summer with the Milwaukkee Bucks, averaging 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 13 minutes a game over six Summer League appearances while shooting 64.2% from the field and 42.9% from the 3-point line. He is a defensive wing with a high motor and was signed as a developmental player for the Swarm,
Joiner, inked by the Hornets on Thursday, is a G-League veteran who has spent time with the College Park Skyhawks (2023-25) and the Raptors 905 last season. Joiner is a shot-maker who can create and is destined to play for the Swarm. He saw limited time with Toronto during this past Summer League. The 6-1 -League's rights currently belong to Raptors 905, so the Hornets need to trade for him to assign him to Greensboro.
Stewart is the fifth player that Charlotte has signed to an Exhibit 10 pact. Besides Joiner, Stewart and Allick, the Hornets have signed and waived Kyle Mangas and Trey Townsend. Mangas, who was on a two-way deal with the Spurs for a short stint in December 2025, and Townsend, who went undrafted in 2025 out of Arizona, spent time with the Texas Legends (Dallas) and Salt Lake City Stars (Utah). The Swarm acquired Mangas and Townsend's rights on August 19.

Grant Nelson agreed to a two-way deal with the Brooklyn Nets earlier today.
Nelson went undrafted out of Arizona in 2025 and spent most of the year wth the Long Island Nets, though he did sign a 10-day pact with Brooklyn, where he impressed the organization . The 7-footer was considered a candidate to re-sign with the Nets, but they instead chose to sign Malachi Smith . It was later revealed that Nelson had been dealing with "jumpers knee" and would be shut down for the rest of the season.
Nelson is a mobile, floor-spacing big who excels in transition and short roll passing. Nelson is also a good defender with the ability to defend the rim and guard in space. The 24-year-old averaged 4.5 points on 55.6% shooting and 1.3 blocks in nine minutes a game over four appearances for the Nets. He scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, and blocked three shots against Cleveland on March 1.
Nelson joins Chaney Johnson and Tyler Bilodeau on minor league deals. Nelson projects to spend the majority of the season with Long Island. The Nets also have 15 players on standard deals.
Despite being a part-time player for the last three seasons, Kevin Love may return to Minnesota, per The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski. Love spent the first six seasons of his career in Minnesota. The Timberwolves acquired the 6-10 in a draft-day deal back in 2008 from Memphis for OJ Mayo in a multi-player trade.
"From what I understand, Kevin Love is open to coming back to Minnesota," Krawczynski said on The Jon Krawczynski Show . "I do think the Wolves have some interest in bringing him back as well. It would just be a phenomenal story if the Wolves did decide to fill that spot, and they did it with Kevin Love."
Love has been linked to several teams this offseason due to his leadership, ability to space the floor, and rebound despite being 37. He averaged 6.7 points and 5.8 rebounds while making 1.4 threes at a nearly 40% clip in 37 appearances for Utah this past season.
Minnesota has surprisingly gone through a major retooling of its roster this offseason . The Timberwolves have brought in five newcomers, led by LaMelo Ball and Jonathan Kuminga . The Timberwolves have an open spot on their 15-man roster and are $4.5 million below the second apron, where they are hardcapped. They could use more depth up front, though if he does ultimately end up in Minnesota, he will likely continue to see only emergency minutes.
