Houser Becomes Latest Giant to Join Injured List

Absolutely nothing has gone right for the San Francisco Giants this season.
For a team that's currently 24 games under .500, it's hard to be hopeful about the future of this organization.
That said, this team made all of the right trades at the deadline, and they have a core group of solid rookies who are earning a ton of playing time this season, mostly as of late due to a laundry list of injuries .

Suddenly, Adrian Houser has joined the list of injured Giants players.
The 33-year-old was pulled after just 1.2 innings last night, and an MRI revealed that a stint on the Injured List would be required due to a right forearm strain.
Officially, the team put Houser on the 15-day IL and selected fellow right-handed pitcher Braxton Roxby from Triple-A Sacramento.

At this point, all Giants fans can do is laugh about how this season has gone . Making the playoffs is certainly out of the question, and it's unreal to think of just how many injuries this team has been hit with.

The injury bug has made a lengthy stop in San Francisco, and now their pitching depth will be further tested without Houser.
This is a guy who didn't live up to the hype earlier in the year, so he was moved to the bullpen where he started to thrive.
Once it seemed like he was going to re-emerge in the starting rotation, this happened.
Not only did Houser go down with an injury, but the team officially shut down left-handed pitcher Carson Whisenhunt, who has now been transferred to the 60-day IL.
For what it's worth, Whisenhunt hasn't just been shut down for the year, but he'll likely miss the entire 2027 season as well.

A closer look at the Giants injury list
Houser becomes the latest Giants player to join the IL, and it's a crowded room, to say the least.
Shortstop Willy Adames was placed on the IL quite recently alongside outfielder Victor Bericoto and right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker. Those three all went on the IL on the same day in an announcement that featured 10 roster moves taking place all at once.
Shortstop Marcelo Mayer, right-handed pitcher Keaton Winn, left-handed pitcher Matt Gage, and utility man Jesus Rodriguez are all scheduled to return either at the end of this month or into September.
The team currently has 2027 listed as the scheduled return date for right-handed pitchers Joel Peguero, Hayden Birdsong, and Rowan Wick. They're still undecided on whether Randy Rodriguez or Jose Butto will return this season, and there's a chance Trevor McDonald is out until 2028.
Finally, outfielder Harrison Bader, catcher Daniel Susac, third baseman Matt Chapman, and infielder Casey Schmitt will all be back in 2027.
