Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is not quite ready to play after missing the rest of 2024 and the entire 2025 season while recovering from devastating ACL, MCL, and LCL tears, along with meniscus damage and a dislocated kneecap sustained in December 2024. Dell primarily participated in individual drills during training camp, along with two team drills, including one with pads, while missing joint practices and the three preseason games. The Texans placed the star slot receiver on injured reserve during roster cuts, meaning he will miss at least the first four games, which will give him extra time to fully recover.
Dell enters the final year of his rookie deal. Due to Proven Performance Escalators , which award third- to seventh-round picks for logging more than 35% of offensive snaps in two of their first three seasons, he qualified for a Level 1 pay increase. As a result, he is scheduled to earn a non-guaranteed $3.555 million base salary, along with a $3.889 million cap hit.

According to Michael Ginnetti of Spotrac , the Texans have agreed to a restructured contract with Tank Dell . The deal is for one year and is worth $1,704,250, with a $500,000 signing bonus, $1 million guaranteed, and a $59,520 workout bonus. As a result, Houston frees up $1.979 million in cap space in exchange for providing Dell with a little insurance if he is unable to play this season, as they would owe him $1.5 million if he is released.
