Hull City make new €22m bid for Bundesliga star
Hull City Push Hard for Ilyas Ansah as €22m Union Berlin Talks Reach Advanced Stage
Hull City are making a serious move in the market, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that the Premier League newcomers have placed a €22m offer, including bonuses, on Union Berlin's table for Ilyas Ansah. The 21-year-old striker is understood to be open to the switch, with the player ready to travel to England quickly if the clubs complete the final steps.
This has not come out of nowhere. Hull had already seen earlier offers turned away, which points to a negotiation that has developed over several days and now appears to be entering a decisive phase. The latest proposal suggests Hull are determined to find an agreement and willing to stretch for a player they clearly view as a major attacking addition.

Plettenberg's update stated, "Negotiations have been ongoing for days. The offer is now on Union Berlin's table. Hull City had already seen previous offers rejected. Ilyas Ansah is ready to fly to England soon. It's now only up to Union." That is the key point in this story. Hull's intent looks strong, the player side seems positive, and the outstanding issue now centres on whether Union Berlin are prepared to accept the current package.
Ilyas Ansah Transfer Edges Closer
The broad picture is encouraging for Hull. Club-to-club talks are advanced, discussions with the striker over a long-term contract are also advanced, and the overall deal status is moving in the right direction. Final agreement is still required, but the shape of the move is now clear.
For Hull City, this would be a statement signing. A fee of €22m would underline both ambition and confidence after promotion, while adding a young forward with development upside and immediate first-team potential. Recruitment at this level often comes down to timing and conviction, and Hull appear to be showing both.

Union Berlin Hold Final Decision
At present, the transfer hinges on Union Berlin. Hull are pushing hard, the framework is there, and Ansah's camp appears aligned with the move. Until the Bundesliga side gives the green light, caution remains sensible, but this is a live negotiation with genuine momentum behind it.
Our View
From a Hull supporter's perspective, this is exactly the kind of report that gets the pulse racing. To see the club chasing a young striker at this level, and doing so with real intent, says a lot about where Hull believe they belong. Promotion always brings scrutiny, especially over whether a club will simply try to survive or actually build. This move feels like the latter.

Ansah fits the profile fans want to see, young, hungry, upward trajectory, and with enough value in the deal to suggest the recruitment team are targeting quality rather than just numbers. If Hull are prepared to go to €22m including bonuses, then this is no tentative enquiry. It is a proper attempt to land a player who could grow with the team.
There is also something encouraging in the detail that earlier bids were rejected and Hull kept going. Supporters want to see persistence in the market, especially when the target looks important. If the club can get this over the line, it would send a message to the rest of the Premier League that Hull are here to compete with purpose, not just make up the numbers. This is the sort of transfer story that can lift the whole fanbase before a ball is even kicked.
