Hummels & Müller become investors, buy into top-flight club
At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels worked for Magenta. As has now become known, the pundits are turning into investors. Portuguese top-flight club Estrela da Amadora confirmed the entry of the investor group in a press release on Tuesday.
Together with Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernández , Müller and Hummels have bought 90 percent of the club's shares. According to media reports from Portugal, the previous owner bought the club in 2020 for €72,000. Now, he is said to have received €40 million from the investor group, apparently making it the biggest sale of a Portuguese club.

In addition, Johannes Mösmang, who until recently was player manager at FC Bayern Munich , is becoming the new president of Estrela da Amadora. "Estrela Amadora is a traditional club in Portuguese football with deep roots in Amadora, a unique identity, and a passionate community. It also has one very special feature: ownership of its own stadium. We are highly motivated to begin this new chapter and to build a disciplined and sustainable project that the fans, the community, and everyone who is part of Estrela can be proud of," Mösmang said in the club's press release.
For the investor group around the two German world champions from 2014, the main focus is on infrastructure, youth development, and competitive growth. At the same time, they want to respect the club's history and identity, the press release adds.
That the former football stars will use their Bundesliga connections was already evident in a transfer in mid-July. Midfield talent Lovro Zvonarek moved from Bayern to Portugal. In addition, center-back Otávio was sold by the Portuguese club to Eintracht Frankfurt . According to 'Bild', the Bundesliga side paid around €5 million for the Brazilian jewel, who had previously completed just one professional season in Portugal's top division.

It is unlikely to be the last deal in or out of the Bundesliga.
