The Carolina Hurricanes moved quickly after completing a second-round sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers, signing forward Mark Jankowski to a two-year, $3.7 million contract extension on Monday. The new deal carries a $1.85 million average annual value through the 2027-28 season and prevents the 31-year-old from reaching unrestricted free agency on July 1.

Jankowski amassed 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 68 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign while posting a plus-7 rating. He has also contributed one assist in eight playoff appearances as Carolina opened the postseason with consecutive series sweeps against the Ottawa Senators and the Flyers to improve to 8-0 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The extension follows a productive stretch since Jankowski joined the Hurricanes near the end of the 2024-25 season. Carolina acquired the 6-foot-4, 200-pound forward from the Nashville Predators on March 7, 2025, in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. After the trade, he scored eight goals in 19 games to close out the regular season with the Hurricanes.
Across two seasons with Carolina, Jankowski has produced 19 goals and 10 assists for 29 points in 87 regular-season games while recording a plus-11 rating. He has also appeared in 15 playoff games for the Hurricanes over that stretch, producing two assists.
Originally selected by the Calgary Flames with the 21st overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Jankowski spent four seasons at Providence College and helped the program win the NCAA championship in 2015 before turning professional in 2016. Since making his NHL debut with the Calgary during the 2016-17 season, he has played for the Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Predators, and Hurricanes.

In 482 career NHL regular-season games, Jankowski has accumulated 79 goals and 66 assists for 145 points. He has also managed four points, including a goal and three assists, over 31 playoff appearances.
