- “Imagine What the Work Is Gonna Look Like Now”: Chennedy Carter Sends Cryptic Message After Aces Waiver
Chennedy Carter hit an unexpected roadblock in what was otherwise looking to be one of her best seasons in the WNBA. The Las Vegas Aces decided to part ways with her after she was put on a temporary contract but was cut just before the trade deadline to convert her deal to a permanent one. And now, she has seemingly sent a cryptic message.
Carter is known to be one of the most divisive personalities in the WNBA, with reported locker-room tussles. After the Aces waived her on July 7, she responded on Saturday, as she wrote on her Instagram story:
"2 years agojust imagine what the work is gonna look like nowwww"

The message seemingly looked like a pitch to other teams, highlighting her lightning plays earlier in the season. She played 13 games and averaged 12.2 points per game in 16.9 minutes per game off the bench.
Even A'ja Wilson praised the young star for her explosive plays and ability to pierce defenses, saying "it was a joy to have her in the locker room." The controversial guard, who has been waived by multiple teams in her career, will now look for a new future.
On July 16, speaking on the Just Women's Sports podcast, five-time WNBA All-Star Angel McCoughtry discussed what could be some major plot twists this season. She featured Chennedy Carter on her list and said her waiver was not due to her performance.
McCoughtry said:
"This girl early in the year looked like she was a Sixth Player of the Year candidate. She was averaging 13 points off the bench. Then out of nowhere, she just waved, and we don't have an explanation why. And even Becky Hammon won't even explain; she changes the subject… So to me, if somebody's scoring 13 points off the bench, it's not a basketball issue. No, you were doing well. No reason to cut this kid. Sounds like maybe some behavioral issues."
The Aces will surely miss an efficient offensive player in Chennedy Carter, who was constantly giving head coach Becky Hammon good minutes off the bench. While Carter moves on, the Aces will prepare to battle against Angel Reese 's Atlanta Dream after a tough loss to the Chicago Sky .
