Sophie Cunningham has embraced her bench role with the Indiana Fever this season and has thrived in it.
Cunningham began the campaign by starting in three straight games for the Fever. However, head coach Stephanie White decided to put her on the bench after that, which proved to be a great move.

So far this season, she's averaging 8.3 points , 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Cunningham is also third in the league in 3-point shooting percentage at 43.4%, giving the Fever another reliable shooter who makes their offense even more dangerous.
Now, amid the WNBA break, the Fever have put the spotlight on Cunningham once again and emphasized how important she is to the team.

Indiana also made sure to give Cunningham credit for helping the team contend for the playoffs once again.

"Sophie Cunningham provides sharpshooting and energy off the bench. Her reliability and availability has been central to the team's success this season," the Fever wrote while sharing a piece about how valuable Cunningham is to the franchise.
The Fever currently boast a 26-14 record, good for fifth in the WNBA standings. With four games left before the postseason, the team has a chance to compete for a top-three spot. They are only one game behind the No. 3 Las Vegas Aces.
Sure enough, Cunningham will be a valuable piece for the Fever as they look to contend for the championship.

The WNBA season resumes on Sept. 17. Indiana will face the Toronto Tempo, Washington Mystics and the Minnesota Lynx twice to finish the campaign.
