The No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers are taking on the Howard Bison on Saturday in Week 2. While Curt Cignetti's team is a heavy favorite in this contest, the program will be without two key defensive starters.
Reports indicate that starting cornerbacks AJ Harris and Jamari Sharpe are both ruled out against Howard, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The silver lining is that Indiana does not believe Harris' and Sharpe's injuries are long-term.

Harris is a redshirt junior who transferred to Indiana this offseason from Penn State. He played in the program's 52-16 Week 1 win over North Texas. He left that game early after sustaining an injury that is currently undisclosed. Through 35 games played in his career, AJ Harris has recorded 89 combined tackles (56 solo), one interception, and one fumble recovery.
Sharpe also suffered an injury in Week 1 during the first quarter. The redshirt senior has played at Indiana throughout his entire collegiate career. Similar to Harris, Sharpe's injury is currently undisclosed, but is considered day-to-day. In 41 career games, Jamari Sharpe has accumulated 86 combined tackles (60 solo), two interceptions, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Considering the defending national champions are expected to defeat Howard on Saturday, coach Cignetti may have taken this as an opportunity to give his two starting cornerbacks some extra rest to recover. The Hoosiers and the Bison kick off on Saturday at 12 p.m. EST.
