Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever failed to get much going during the 2026 WNBA Playoffs, suffering a 2-1 series loss to A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces in the first round. But the good news for the Fever is that they still have three years remaining on Boston's four-year, $6.3 million deal she signed last offseason.
Boston had arguably her best year with Indiana during her fourth WNBA season. The former South Carolina Gamecocks forward averaged a career-high 16.1 points on 52.8% shooting, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while earning her fourth WNBA All-Star nod in four years.
But what's more impressive is that Boston did all this despite dealing with a knee injury throughout, and following the season, she underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus in her right knee.

Boston suffered the injury back in February during the second season of the 3-on-3 Unrivaled league in Miami. This forced her to miss the remainder of the Unrivaled season, along with the FIBA Women's World Cup qualifying tournament in March. Still, Boston was able to play in 40 of the Fever's 44 regular-season games, along with all three postseason matches.
In 14 Unrivaled games last season, Boston averaged 18.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for Phantom FC. And in late August, the Fever forward signed a multi-year contract extension with Unrivaled, setting her up to play in season three of Unrivaled, which begins in January.
However, while Boston is expected to be healthy for the start of the 2027 WNBA season, the knee surgery will keep her out of the upcoming Unrivaled season as she continues her recovery.
"Fever injury update: Star center Aliyah Boston will miss the 2027 Unrivaled season due to ongoing recovery from her right knee arthroscopy earlier this month," Forbes' Tony East wrote on X. "She's expected to return in 2028."
Unrivaled Season 3 is set to begin on January 8, 2027, at TD Garden in Boston.
