Iowa basketball hosting UNC transfer portal guard
As the Iowa Hawkeyes continue to explore talent in the transfer portal, the visits and ties to the Hawkeyes continue to grow. Iowa is staying busy, hosting players in Iowa City and looking to replenish a roster that made a run to the Elite 8 last year.
The latest news out of Iowa basketball is that the Hawkeyes are hosting a guard hailing from one of college basketball's premier blue-blood programs. Kyan Evans , a guard from the University of North Carolina, is in the transfer portal and is meeting with Iowa today, as reported by Sam Kayser.
Kyan Evans spent this past season with UNC after spending his first two years of college basketball with the Colorado State Rams . Evans averaged 4.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 rebounds this year for the Tar Heels , while averaging 17.6 minutes per game.
Evans' best season came during the 2024-25 campaign, when he averaged 10.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds with the Colorado State Rams. He is a career 42% shooter overall, while hitting 38.3% of his three-point attempts.
A product of Staley High School and Kansas City, Missouri, Kyan Evans was a three-star recruit out of high school, per 247Sports. He is rated as a three-star transfer portal recruit and the No. 36 combo guard available.
