As No. 14 Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) enters the back half of its 2026-27 season, The Athletic named three Hawkeyes to its midseason All-American rosters .
Fourth-year offensive tackle Trevor Lauck and fourth-year offensive guard Kade Pieper were both named midseason first-team offense selections, while third-year linebacker Cam Buffington made the second-team defensive roster.
Here is what The Athletic said about Lauck and Pieper:
OT Trevor Lauck, Iowa :Lauck has excelled in his second year as the Hawkeyes' starting left tackle. He's been proficient in pass protection, allowing no sacks and only three pressures in 163 pass-blocking snaps. As a run blocker, his power and physicality are evident, as is his ability to quickly get to the second level and finish.
OG Kade Pieper, Iowa: Pieper's quick feet and strong hands serve him well in the run game, where he's either moving defenders off the line of scrimmage and/or getting to the second level to take on a linebacker. In pass protection, he's allowed just two pressures in 163 pass-blocking snaps.
While Buffington didn't get his own write-up by The Athletic staff, the 6-foot-3, 238-pound native of Winfield, Iowa, is still having a tremendous campaign so far, registering a team-leading 52 tackles (28 solo, 24 assisted), five tackles for loss, three quarterback hurries and two sacks.
Emerging from its Week 7 bye, Iowa will look to continue its stellar 2026-27 campaign with a rivalry win over Minnesota in the battle for the Floyd of Rosedale at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 24, and will be broadcast on FS1.
