Quick breakdown
Regis was one of Pro Football Focus's higher-rated run defenders in each of the last two seasons. Among all defensive tackles last season, he also ranked tied for 10th in run stop rate. His pass rush production won't leap off the stat sheet, but Regis' impact goes beyond that, with his ability to take on blocks and clog running lanes, creating opportunities for others.
Albert Regis' athletic profile
Scouting report on Albert Regis
"Fifth-year senior with two years as a starter, Regis is built low, with girthy lowers and shorter arms. He's a leverage monster who can function as a tree stump in the middle of the defense when he's first in with his hands. He can post and peek as a two-gapper or drop low to fight off double-teams. He plays with good balance and is technically sound in block take-ons/disengagements. His rush is unimpressive and his lack of length will cause issues at times, but he's tough, strong and consistent. Regis should become a run-stopping factor as a nose tackle." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
They said it
Liam Coen:"The football intelligence, the football IQ, the feel, how to play single blocks, how to play double teams, how to how he runs to the football. I mean, this guy chases things down, screens. We talk about heat for players for us and the amount of buy-in in the building for these players, specifically Albert. a ton of buy-in, and you hit it on the head -- the type of football intelligence, IQ matched with somebody that's going to play his tail off and compete. That's exactly what we were hunting up."

Albert Regis' role with the Jaguars
Regis can be an immediate secondary option behind DaVon Hamilton in the defensive tackle rotation. He ranked 10th last season in PFF's run-stop rate metric.
