- Jaguars one of 5 teams to accomplish this feat on Day 1 of free agency
The first day of the NFL's legal tampering period has passed it was a relatively quiet one for the Jacksonville Jaguars , at least when it comes to making outside additions.
Barring any last-minute moves before midnight, the Jaguars are one of five teams not to make an outside signing on Monday. The other teams in that category are the Eagles, Broncos , Packers , and Seahawks .

This development doesn't come as a huge surprise, however. For one, Jacksonville doesn't have an abundance of salary cap space. According to Over the Cap , the Jaguars have $110,348 in available space at the moment.
Now, more cap space can and will be created. But given Jacksonville's overall lack of spending power, GM James Gladstone may have chosen to sit out the first wave of free agency and instead pursue the free agents in the secondary markets that could be signed to more cost-effective deals for the Jaguars.
Other factors behind this quiet first day are that with Devin Lloyd and Travis Etienne signing elsewhere, the Jaguars are positioned well to net some additional compensatory selections in the 2027 NFL draft. A big addition early on in free agency by the Jaguars could cancel one of those compensatory selections out.

In addition to that, with 11 draft picks, including four in the top 100, James Gladstone could be looking to the NFL draft as the primary way that he would like to address the Jaguars' needs this offseason.
The Jaguars also don't have nearly as much roster turnover this year compared to last, which means not as many outside additions have to be made.
Although the Jaguars didn't make any new signings, they did re-sign Montaric Brown and Dennis Gardeck on Monday. Lloyd is also headed to Carolina and Etienne to New Orleans .
