After salary cap maneuvers by GM James Gladstone, let's take an updated look at the Jacksonville Jaguars current salary cap situation.
According to Spotrac , the Jaguars restructured the contracts of safety Eric Murray and offensive lineman Patrick Mekari . In total, the two cap-saving moves created $10.72 million in cap space for the 2026 season.

How much salary cap space do Jaguars have after latest moves?
Prior to these two moves being made, the Jaguars were more than $16 million over the 2026 salary cap. Not helping their cap situation is all the dead cap that is on the books this year.
Following these two maneuvers, the Jaguars put a dent in their cap deficit, but are still $6.04 million over the cap. This ranks 28th in the NFL, according to Over the Cap .
So, needless to say, there is still quite a bit of work to be done by Gladstone. Not only does he have to get under the cap by March 11th, when the new league year begins, but he'll need space to make any additions in free agency.

In addition to contract restructures, which pushes cap charges from the current season to future contract years, other cap-saving measures include a contract extension in some instances. Travon Walker is a prime extension candidate this offseason that would save the Jaguars' cap space in the process.
Veteran cuts or trades can be an avenue as well, when a player's cap hit is larger than the dead cap hit they would leave behind.
