Jaleel McLaughlin reveals why he re-signed with Broncos
The Denver Broncos running back room seems a bit crowded going into the 2026 season, so it seems a big question why Jaleel McLaughlin re-signed with the team during free agency on a one-year deal in early March.
McLaughlin explained his reasoning for resigning with the Broncos during a charity home run derby held at Coors Field by UCHealth earlier this month.

"Man, I love it here," McLaughlin said, via the Denver Gazette 's Chris Tomasson. "I love being here in Denver and playing with this team. I love our offensive line, I love our quarterbacks, I love our receivers, I love our running back room, I love our defense... I want to win here. I told Coach (Sean) Payton I want to win here."

Payton recently spoke about how far McLaughlin has come, and where he is going heading into this upcoming season. "He's super focused, you know him," said Payton after the team wrapped up the second week of OTAs. "He's working on all the little things and doing a great job of it."

In three seasons with the Broncos , McLaughlin has rushed for 1,093 yards and three touchdowns on 226 rushing attempts, as well as caught 59 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns in 41 games played in orange and blue.
While it may be unclear how much McLaughlin will see the field in 2026, where he sits as a solid RB4 behind J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman . Denver may consider relegating McLaughlin to the practice squad until either injury or performance brings him to the active roster. Or Denver could carry four running backs on the active roster going into the season (McLaughlin would have to beat out Tyler Badie and others to make it).
McLaughlin will try to impress his coaches and convince them to keep him on the active roster as he participates in mandatory minicamp this week, and later on in the summer, training camp .
