New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson seemed caught off-guard after a fan claimed to have insight into his and his teammate's financial planning.
Brunson might have given up $113 million by extending his contract in 2024 instead of becoming a free agent in 2025, but that decision has already paid off to the tune of a Championship.
With Brunson also needing to recover the $113 million he left on the table, it seems fans have found out about his next move in terms of his financial planning.
Jalen Brunson was surprised when a fan made the connection about his potential financial adviser
A report from an X account claimed that Brunson, alongside old college teammates Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, have signed up to become Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management clients, with former Villanova teammate Matt Kennedy as their financial advisor.
Brunson's reaction to this report was hilarious, as he confirmed his close relationship with Kennedy while asking about the sources that led to this story.
"Matt is my guy, but I need your sources."
Matt is my guy could be referring to him being his friend or his 'guy,' as in his financial advisor in this context.
Brunson didn't say this was untrue, but just asked for the original poster's sources to try and gain more insight into how this information has become known.
It would make sense if Bridges and Hart joined Brunson with their success and shared relationship with Kennedy, who won an NCAA title with them.
Jalen Brunson's next contract is going to be massive
Brunson is clearly a very financially savvy individual, but the 30-year-old has yet to have the biggest payday of his career.

While he's made $120.6 million over his career already despite being a second-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, his next contract with the Knicks could make Brunson more in one go than he has in his career up until this point.
If Brunson signs a four-year extension in 2027 when he becomes eligible, he can sign a four-year deal for over $250 million at 30% of the salary cap.
If he waits to become a free agent in 2028 and re-signs with the Knicks, he will be entitled to 35% of the cap in a max contract, landing him a five-year contract that could pay him as much as $418 million.
