The first half suggested Rose's immediate influence on Bournemouth is increased directness, Evanilson chasing plenty of long balls. From the beginning of the second half, with Scott directing traffic and Adrien Truffert galloping from full-back, their interchanges frayed Everton's resolve.
Three points should have been long secured by the time Christie and Tavernier collided. Pickford was kept very busy, he and Hackney combining to somehow deflect goal-bound efforts from Rayan and Evanilson.
"We could have scored a second goal two, three or four times and now we have to deal with a point," said Rose. "I have to get used to the Premier League. It's quite different. It's always an open game."
Moyes's agitation was made apparent as his team ground the gears, only to feel the benefit of Bournemouth's mishap. By then, Scott had departed to an ovation. It fell short of being a victory lap.
