One day after getting Jameson Taillon back from the injured list, the Toronto Blue Jays sent Taillon back to the injured list on Saturday because of recurring elbow issues.
The right-hander, who had previously been on the injured list with elbow woes, came back on Friday, but only lasted two innings in a 9-2 win against the Kansas City Royals.
As a result, he's back on the IL in favor of left-hander Ricky Tiedemann, who had been sent down just one day earlier.
Taillon, 34, is a 10-year veteran of the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Blue Jays, who has gone 84-66 in his career with a 3.99 ERA. The Cubs designated him for assignment earlier this summer, only for the Jays to acquire him right around the time that they traded Kevin Gausman to Chicago.
He's made just three appearances for Toronto and his season is likely over. A free agent at the conclusion of the year, he'll face a precarious offseason, especially as a likely lockout looms over the sport.
He is 2-6 this season with a 5.65 ERA between the two organizations.

As for Tiedemann, he's a former top prospect who has battled a significant injury history in the minor leagues. Still just 23 years old, he has a high upside if he can stay healthy. He's only thrown 2.2 innings so far in the big leagues, giving up one run and striking out two.
The Blue Jays enter play on Saturday at 71-71 and just one game back in the American League wild card race. And should they actually make the playoffs, Tiedemann could be a good weapon out of the bullpen.
The two teams will play again on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET as Max Scherzer pitches against veteran righty Seth Lugo. Scherzer is just 2-7 with a 6.16 ERA, but he's coming off a masterful performance against the Seattle Mariners in which he struck out 10 over seven innings. Lugo has struggled this year as well, going 6-8 with a 5.03 ERA.
The Royals are just 63-79 on the season. They are in last place in the American League Central.
The Guardians will host the Detroit Tigers at 6:10 p.m. ET. Former All-Star left-hander Framber Valdez will pitch for Detroit while young lefty Parker Messick pitches for Cleveland. He's 11-8, but has an ERA of 2.46.
