Jared Jones already has his offseason wish list for the Pittsburgh Pirates , and Brandon Lowe is near the top of it.
After Pittsburgh finished its season with a 4-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday, the right-handed pitcher said the Pirates have the pieces to take a major step forward in 2027. He also made it clear that he wants Lowe back in the clubhouse.
"We've got good bones as a team," Jones said, per Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Obviously we want Brandon Lowe back in this clubhouse with us next year."
Jones went even further when discussing what Pittsburgh could accomplish with a healthier roster.
"If we can get that done in the offseason, that's one hell of an offseason already," Jones said. He added that if the Pirates can keep their best players on the field, he believes they can win "90, 95 games next year."
The Pirates finished 82-80, their first winning season since 2018. Jones helped close the year on a strong note, throwing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts against Detroit.
The right-hander finished 2026 with a 3.72 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 123 strikeouts across 101⅔ innings in 21 starts. He also posted a 0.93 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 29 innings in five September starts.

Lowe, meanwhile, enters free agency after leading Pittsburgh with 35 home runs and 96 RBIs. He hit .260/.331/.493 while appearing in 150 games.
With ace Paul Skenes , Jones and other young pieces forming the foundation, the Pirates have plenty to discuss this winter. Whether Lowe remains part of that group is now one of their biggest offseason questions.
