Javier Mascherano Gives Inter Miami Injury Update After Draw vs. Nashville
Inter Miami drew 0-0 in its visit to Nashville SC in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16. Maximiliano Falcón left the field in the seventh minute due to an injury.
According to journalist Franco Panizo, after the match, Javier Mascherano said the Uruguayan center back "will undergo exams to check the severity," adding that he hopes it is a minor injury.
According to the cited journalist, the injury appears to be to the knee. Upon his exit, Gonzalo Luján substituted for him.
Falcón has played in all four of Inter Miami's matches this season, enjoying his coach's complete trust. In the last campaign, he was a key piece in helping the Herons secure their first MLS Cup.
In the 2025 season, the defender recorded 47 matches in total, across MLS, Leagues Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and Concacaf Champions Cup.
The match had opportunities for both teams, and although Inter Miami was superior in possession (59%), Nashville was more incisive and better in attack.
The home team registered 15 total shots, four on goal and two big chances created, while the Herons registered only eight total shots, one on goal and one big chance created.
Nashville had an expected goals (xG) of 1.21, compared to 0.49 for Mascherano's men. As for Lionel Messi , the Argentine generated only one big chance and shot once on goal.
The second leg will be played in Miami next Wednesday, March 18. Before that, Mascherano's team will visit Charlotte FC on the fourth matchday of the MLS on Saturday, March 14. Nashville, meanwhile, will visit the Columbus Crew the same day.
